ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE WEDDING VENUES IN NYC – PART 3

Welcome back for installment number 3 of our 3 Part series on absolutely unique wedding venues in NYC!

The first installment took a look at the gorgeous Beekman building and the dramatic and theatrical Angel Orensanz Foundation, and in the Second installment we learned about the Hall des Lumières and the Brooklyn Botanical Museum.

So without any further ado, here are the last two NYC wedding venues that we feel are absolutely in a class of their own! These venues will definitely lend a not so subtle pop of drama to your day, and grant your seriously good wedding reception vibes!!

Brooklyn Grange

Imagine saying “I do!” with the backdrop of a gorgeous, private, ecologically sound, and lush roof-top garden! Complete with stunning panoramic views, right here in Brooklyn! Intrigued?!

Brooklyn Grange was founded in 2010 by Ben Flanner and Anastasia Cole Plakias, and is now the leading rooftop farming and intensive green roofing business in the US! The Brooklyn Grange operates the world’s largest rooftop soil farms, which happen to be located in New York City, and promote sustainable urban living by building green spaces, as well as hosting educational programming and events, and improving access to locally grown produce in NYC communities. Brooklyn Grange operates three rooftop farms in Brooklyn and Queens spanning 5.6 acres and impressively produces well over 100,000 lbs of organically-grown vegetables per year!

Brooklyn Grange combines the rustic ambience of a working farm that just happens to come with multiple unbeatable rooftop locations

First up is the 1.5-acre Brooklyn Navy Yard farm where guests are greeted by panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and East River waterfront as they follow winding paths between fields of seasonal crops to the main event. Perfect for hosting anything from micro-weddings of up to 25 guests, up to groups of 100 for a seated dinner reception. Your guests will enjoy a large, paved, deck, perfect for a welcoming bar, cocktail-style mingling, and seated dining. This patio is also covered by a weatherproof awning for rain protection (just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate) and strung with elegant, dimmable Edison bulb string lights.

Next up is their 3.2-acre rooftop farm in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, which is capable of hosting groups from 50-150, in their new, light-flooded indoor events space with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. The venue overlooks the New York Harbor, downtown Manhattan and our beloved Lady Liberty. Locally sourced bluestone creates outdoor patio spaces that happen to be as timeless as they are ecologically friendly!

One final note, Beat Train Productions is already listed as a preferred vendor for Brooklyn Grange!

What Sets Beat Train Apart From the Competition?!

Yacht Club Wedding

With all the event entertainment companies around today, what stands out and sets Beat Train apart from the competition!?! Keep reading to find out!

The Beat Train Origin Story

Founded more well over a decade ago, Beat Train got its start in the wedding DJ world. After seeing one too many weddings absolutely fall flat because of a boring or out-dated DJ, we knew we had to act. After all, a wedding should be one of the happiest days of a couple’s lives together! The newlyweds shouldn’t have to worry about guests standing around awkwardly while the DJ blasts generic music that no one’s into!

Customization is where it’s at when planning a wedding, as no couple is exactly the same, and, as such, no wedding should be exactly the same. At Beat Train we believe that all events deserve a unique and personalized touch. That means that we won’t pay out-dated mixes and  reuse pre-made playlists! We don’t believe in the “wedding DJ in a box” style of party!

And, now, after thousands of 5-star weddings, we’re 100% comfortable with saying that our personalized approach to weddings is the way to go. With Beat Train Productions, you will never get a one-size-fits-all wedding! But, we’re not content to just handle weddings like that. We also don’t think that birthday parties, anniversary parties or corporate events deserve a boring DJ either! We believe every event, no matter what it may be, needs a unique vibe.

What People Remember About Events

Something we’ve also learned along the way, is that what guests remember most is how they felt during an event. Was it exactly like the last wedding they attended? Or just like the club they were at last weekend? If the answer is yes, then it was a forgettable event, but at Beat Train we aim higher than that! At Beat Train, we think that the last word that should be used to describe any event is “forgettable.” We aim for words like fantastic, incredible, marvelous, stupendous, or unforgettable!

Hiring The Best and Fostering Impeccable Company Culture

Not just anyone can join the Beat Train team! At Beat Train, we only hire experienced, talented, engaging and passionate event and wedding DJs.

It’s more than just skill on the mic that makes a Beat Train DJ. We also only hire DJs who fit the Beat Train philosophy of inclusivity and acceptance, because we believe that everyone deserves to have the wedding or event of their dreams. There’s no room on the Beat Train team for anyone who believes differently. We guarantee open minds at all times!

And, we like to keep all our DJs and event professionals in the loop – across multiple cities/markets – with quarterly ‘All Team’ Meetings. We feel that it gives everyone on staff a chance to get to know (and reconnect with) their fellow entertainers, and reminds everyone of the exceptional standards that make the backbone of the Beat Train customer experience!

ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE WEDDING VENUES IN NYC – PART 2

Welcome back for Part 2 in our 3 Part series on absolutely unique wedding venues in NYC

The first installment took a look at the gorgeous Beekman building and the dramatic and theatrical Angel Orensanz Foundation, so we know that they will be hard to top, but we will try our best!

So without further ado, here are two more NYC wedding venues that are absolutely in a class of their own, and will definitely lend a not so subtle pop of drama to your day! But, don’t worry, it’s a good kind of drama!

Hall des Lumières

What could be more romantic than celebrating your nuptials amongst the larger than life projection mapping of Gustav Klimts’ The Kiss?! The Hall des Lumières Gold In Motion exhibit does not disappoint! It is a multi-sensory celebration of Klimt’s most iconic work, that uses unique, cutting-edge mapping technology, along with an elegant soundtrack and historic location to transport you to a world of love and emotion, gold and color.

Now, here’s a little about the history of the building. The Irish Emigrant Society, inaugurated the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank in 1850 to protect the money of Irish immigrants. And, the Bank Building as it stands today – developed between 1902-1912 – at 49 Chambers Street was actually the first skyscraper in New York City in the Beaux-Arts style, and was designed by the esteemed Raymond F. Almirall. Almirall chose an H-shaped plan when he designed the 187 feet tall (57 meters) and 14 stories high building, which allowed natural light to flood the rooms and from the outside gives the impression that the building has a mirrored pair of towers.

The venue is 30,000 square feet and spans two levels. The main level features 40-foot-high ceilings and custom 100+ year old laylights. Meanwhile, the lower level has a more raw

aesthetic and provides access to a historic bank vault, as well as architectural details such as the elaborate stone work surrounding the Hall, and the marble bank tellers’ registers, in an effort to protect the integrity and history of the space.

And, as a final note, the Hall des Lumières is able to host groups as small as 100, seated receptions for 250+, and even cocktail receptions for up to 1000 guests. Talk about versatility!

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Tucked away in one of the biggest and busiest cities of the world, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a beautiful oasis of trees, flower borders, and pastoral lawns, also known as, the perfect place for your wedding or celebration. Whether you’re interested in a gorgeous morning, or afternoon ceremony among the seasonal blossoms or a dance party indoors or beneath the stars, you’ll find the Garden has everything you could want for hosting an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime event

And, when it comes to reception spaces, The Lillian and Amy Goldman Atrium is absolutely stunning, as well as being an ecologically sustainable event space! Imagine celebrating beneath a gorgeous living roof of native grasses and wildflowers, with incredible floor-to-ceiling glass walls that overlook the Garden’s Cherry Esplanade and outdoor terrace, creating a space that’s both intimate and luxurious for weddings and other events up to 125 guests.

Moving on from there, and boasting an entirely different vibe, is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Palm House. This venue offers a gorgeous Garden setting for your ceremony, along with an outdoor terrace that’s perfect for cocktails, and, of course, the exquisitely designed glass-walled Palm House for your reception and party. The Palm House can accommodate up to 250 seated guests, so don’t fret, you can still host quite a large wedding celebration at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden!

Stay turned in the coming weeks for part 3 of our Absolutely Unique Wedding Venues in NYC list!

Top Trends in Corporate Events for 2023 and Beyond

We feel that there are many reasons (most especially, the number of inquiries we receive) to be hopeful about the state of the event industry in 2023 and beyond! Events are back, big time! So, if your company is planning events in the coming year, and years ahead, it is best to stay in the loop and on top of the trends!

As we look ahead, here are some of the top trends we’re seeing in Corporate Events:

Secure your Choice Venue Early!

In-person events are not just back, they’re absolutely thriving! In some high-demand areas, the return to in-person events is happening more rapidly and at a greater volume than anticipated or can be facilitated! That means that the demand for venues is greater than capacity, meaning greater competition for available event space!  This combined with rising venue costs and the ongoing staffing shortages complicate the search for suitable, quality venues. So, in 2023, early planning will be crucial!

Embrace Digital Elements For In-Person Events

The Post-pandemic event industry has embraced digital. The sudden 2020 pivot to virtual events during the pandemic greatly hastened the digitization of events. So, that means that going forward, in-person corporate events will also be a little different.

In 2023, in-person events will continue to incorporate more digital interactive touch points, supported by technology. This allows event marketers and planners to capture more insights on attendee behavior and are able to create an engaging interface for guests to interact with.

More digital touchpoints also offer the opportunity to create an always-on, year-round attendee engagement and relationship.

Events Designed With Sustainability in Mind

From these days forward, sustainability is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. In our experience our clients now take sustainability into account when planning meetings and events, and many have implemented a sustainable meeting strategy. So, event organizers will be looking to focus on measuring, minimizing and reporting on the impact of their sustainability efforts. This may include things like setting measurable goals and tracking their events’ carbon footprint through elements like catering, event energy consumption, and the distance traveled by attendees.

Champion Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Fostering a spirit of equity, diversity and inclusion will mean more clients will make a concerted effort to plan and host events that are more inclusive and accessible to all. This is multi-faceted and comes in many forms such as: selecting venues that are 100% accessible (when taking into account mobility differences) or it could mean gathering relevant information, such as accessibility requirements, from attendees during the registration  process, so that any needs can be accommodated. But, the best practice in this regard is to plan for every eventuality and host more events that are 100% accessible to all.

This could also mean making sure that your event’s speakers are selected from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and walks of life, as well as offering attendees the ability to attend your event (or watch your event presentations) virtually, and ensuring that inclusive language is used throughout all event communications and in all presentations. Outline inclusion expectations with your event presenters ahead of time to alleviate any misunderstandings or miscommunications.
